Getting over Hurt

We were supposed to visit a new church today, but Dane was really sick last night and then during the night, Webb ran a high fever. We all ended up sleeping in until 10:30am and we needed it! Thankfully, both boys seem to be over that today. I love the power of a fever. It fights off the nastiest things!

I was super sad to not get to visit church this morning though :-( I have looked forward to it alllllll week long. I had "Liked" this church's FB page awhile back (when I was researching church's in the area) and I stay up on everything.  Just from the FB page alone I can tell they are an awesome church. Today, I posted something on that page and the feedback I am getting is great. They are truly a church with a heart for people. They are reaching out to me and have not even met me! I got tears in my eyes just reading the love from strangers :-) God is so good.

I am on day 18 of my blog challenge. I am answering the question, "What is the most difficult thing you have ever had to forgive?"

I thought about his question all morning/afternoon. Two different times come to mind. One from this past year, and then one I am currently going through. The one I am going through right now is so very fresh on my mind/the hurt I feel is very fresh. Also, I am working through the forgiveness process  because every. single. day. I learn about an new lie. For that reason, that situation feels like it is the hardest thing I have had to go through. It is ongoing. It feels as though it will never end and yet, I know, with the Lord's help, I will get over this and I will even be able to forget all the horrible details one day, like I do with every other bad situation I face (remember my memory!). I know with time, this will only be a bump in the road. A learning experience. A difficult time I used to better myself and grow closer to the Lord.

I do not feel like my blog is the place to go into details on either situation I faced. They are both personal and private. The one I am currently going through could put a bad tastes in people's mouth for a certain place and even depending on who the person is, a bad taste in their mouth for Christians. Without going into detail, I will say lies are being spread about us and even being told to our faces. It is something that still shocks me and more than that, concerns me. I couldn't answer why it is happening if you asked unless it is to cover someone else's own butt and to make it look like the facts are lies. It is definitely super hard to go through. I have cried and cried about this and taken it to the alter daily, only to pick it up again. It seems like each new detail I hear, or lie that is told, I can't help but pick this burden back up instead of leaving it at the alter. It has eaten at me for about a month. I was even so sick, I thought I was pregnant. I know that vengeance is not mine. The Bible says vengeance is the Lord's and I don't need to worry about making someone pay for their wrongs. Of course, the human and flesh part of me wants to make sure someone does pay for their wrong, especially if they were wrong to ME. But that is so wrong and puts me at their level. I only answer for myself, for what I say, for what I do, for how I treat people, etc. I have been praying daily, sometimes hourly, that the Lord will help me to forgive these people who I don't feel like deserve my forgiveness and to move to. I am praying that the Lord will help me to continue to keep my clear and clean conscience and that the truth/S will eventually come out. I trust that they will. Until then, I have to remind myself about holding a grudge and not forgiving--- It is like drinking poison and wanting the other person to die from it. Not forgiving someone or holding a grudge only hurts me. It harms my walk with the Lord and keeps me from growing. I am working on forgiveness. I am working on forgetting. I am working on being Christ-like and forgiving the unforgivable.  I am also remembering the wisdom of my dad as I told him with tears in my eyes Friday, "Dad! My reputation is important to me. I work hard to have a good name and a good reputation." He said, "Abby, you need to remember what is important. Reputation is what people think of you. Character is what God KNOWS of you. Be more concerned with your character. Act in a way so that if people hear bad things about you, they don't believe it. God knows the truth. God will deal with them."

Thanks, Dad.

So, along with your prayers for Dane, could you also pray that I will leave this issue at the alter and in the hands of God. Only He can work this situation out for good, only He can deal with the people involved, and only He can bring the truth out. Pray that I can forgive those who have done me and my family wrong and pray that I can move on and not let this consume me.

Day 17

I'm pretty proud of the fact that I have stuck with this challenge for 17 days :-)

What is the one thing I wish I was great at?

That is easy for me to answer. I wish I was great at singing. I'm not even remotely good. I wish I was one of those ladies who makes everyone's mouth drop when I open my mouth. I know a couple singers like that. You could listen to them forever and never tire of it. I would LOVE to be able to sing like that... or I would even take being able to sing decently. LOL.

It has been a lazy day. I did not go get my pedicure this afternoon because my husband had to be at the house for plumbing and sheet rock. So, I will prob go tomorrow or Monday. I baked a cake for my MIL this morning that we are having for my SIL's birthday party tonight. They stuck and there was absolutely no way to salvage them, so I had to start over. It was red velvet cake and she didn't have enough red food coloring for me to make another cake. She and I text back and forth and decided I would just pick 2 colors and see what happened. I decided purple would be pretty. When I was mixing the batter, it was midnight black. WHAT?? I know that red and blue used to make purple. What happened??? It is for my SIL who is turning 25 or 26 (I think!) and is about to pop with baby. All I could see was her getting her feelings hurt thinking I had made an "Over the Hill" Black Velvet cake for her. Anyways, once I added some flour and buttermilk, it turned to a deep purple color. I am finding it funny though. Only I could take a task as easy as making a cake and screw it up!

I am wanting to go to the house tomorrow and see the progress. Brent says it is moving along and I will be impressed. I keep dreaming of what it will look like and how I will rearrange furniture, etc. I go window shopping to look for decor and needed items. We got rid of "junk" before we moved in hopes of buying newer and nicer things. It has been fun to shop around looking for items. It is also almost time to start Christmas shopping. I LOVE to Christmas shop. I have many new stores to shop at this year and I am pretty excited about what I might find.

Tomorrow, we are visiting a church in town that I heard wonderful things about before we moved. I meet there for my weekly Bible study and I am really excited to see what we, and the kids, think about it. I am grateful that the kids have gotten some what used to the church and the Children's wing. Hopefully it won't seem too unknown or new tomorrow. I feel like all I have been doing lately is taking them to new places and throwing them in while I turn to leave. Dane has no problem with me doing it, he is my leader and independent child. Webb on the other hand, screams and cries and holds on to me. He is my following, clingy child. If he could stay with Dane, he would do great. They hold hands as we head to childcare and each time they have to let go, Webb breaks down into tears. It is so hard for this tender-hearted momma.

Well, I haven't showered for the day yet and since Webb is sleeping and Dane is chilling, I think I will take the opportunity to shower ALONE--- which never, ever happens :-)

Accomplishments

Today I went to Ringgold to clean. I got to see my sister and have lunch with my dad. I also got to meet up with my sweet friend, Lisa :-)

On the way to Lisa's, I decided to stop by A1 Surplus. They sell doors, cabinets, vanities, tubs, etc. I wanted to stop in and look at showers and all. Brent was going to have to go to Lowe's and just get what they had so I was desperate to find what I want! Wellllllllll.... they had exactly what I wanted for half of what the showers cost at Lowe's. I went ahead and got the boys shower/tub there because it was so cheap! And brand new too. I was stoked. Brent came to get them today and he and my plumber BIL, Chris, will install them tomorrow. I love saving money. Especially $600!!! The work at the house is moving along nicely. Walls are down, paneling is down, new walls are up, rooms have been added, baseboards are gone, doors are gone, and more! Today, men were there finishing the sheet rock. They are also scraping the ceilings (they are textured- not popcorn, but like it) and we don't like that. They will be smooth when we finish. Next on the list will be painting and finding bathroom vanities and mirrors. Then we can lay the floors and buy kitchen appliances, baseboards, new doors, a front door, etc. Ahhhh. Lots to do!!! But, I cannot wait :-)

I will now tell you my 5 greatest accomplishments:

1) Graduating college. Even though I don't use my degree, I'm glad I continued and finished after having Dane. It wasn't easy and there were many days I did not want to finish.
2) My children. They are my pride and joy and I am proud of them and proud they are mine.
3) Having 2 successful homebirths. With the 1st one, I was young, unmarried, and unprepared (in the sense that I wasn't planning the pregnancy and had no idea what birth would be like) and I had sooooo many naysayers and doubters who said I couldn't make it through a natural childbirth. I like to prove people wrong (hehehe) and I am proud of the fact that I had not only 1 successful homebirth, but TWO (and hopefully at least one more).
4) Coming back to the Lord after backsliding. I consider this an accomplishment because I really feel like I let my backsliding days make me better and not bitter. I learned so much from that time of my life that I used to better myself. I am proud of that.
5) My farming days. I always said I wanted to have a farm-- chickens, goats, dairy cow, etc. Even though it was only for a season I am sooooo thankful that I got to live out my dream for awhile. They are memories I will always hold dear to my heart and I am thankful my children got to live that life for awhile also. I can truly say I am content with where we are and I am ok with the fact that I no longer live on a farm. I feel like God let me have that time for a reason and now He has moved us on.

Tomorrow, I am getting a pedicure with my MIL and SIL and then watching the GA/TN (divorce bowl) in the afternoon. Tomorrow evening we are celebrating my SIL's birthday. It will be a busy and fun day for sure.

Have a wonderful weekend!

Animals!

Whoo hoo! This is my 100th post :D

This morning we went to Home Depot to look for tubs, showers, and vanities. This part can be stressful, but it is also fun to choose it all :D It will definitely be our "dream" house. We did not find anything this morning :-/ I know exactly what I want and so far, we haven't been able to find it. I am sure we will eventually though.

Tomorrow, Brent has a job interview with Hamilton EMS in Dalton. He did his clinicals there and after his 2nd clinical, the Captain called his teacher and did an unofficial "check" on him and then told his teacher they wanted him and to have him apply after he finished school. Brent has remained in touch with them ever since his teacher told him that and applied there immediately upon getting his state license. I am so excited for him to go and I am sure he will be hired. Today, we went and got him a new outfit for big day. He is going to look smoking hot... who am I kidding? He looks smoking hot everyday! So, prayers for the big day are greatly appreciated. It is a panel interview and he will be interviewed in front of, I think he said, 4 people. That is a bit stressful for Brent (it would be for pretty much anyone!). I know he will do great because he did outstanding in school and he has completely researched the interview process, etc. I just want him to feel pride and peacefulness tomorrow (10:30am).

Today, I am telling you what animal I would be and why. Hmmmm. I am totally just going with something here.

I would want to be a Peacock because what woman doesn't want everyone to stare at her because of her great beauty :-) I am so vain! But, seriously, they are mellow and gorgeous and why NOT be a peacock? It's better than a deer or a fish or even a dog that might get abused.

Tomorrow, the boys and I head to Ringgold for my bi-weekly cleaning job. That is all I have planned there tomorrow so it will be a short and relaxed trip home. I am excited to be back home on Friday night. There is a couples date night at a church here in town. It is a free movie for adults and free childcare. I really want to go, but.... not my social hubby ;-) He said he would rather take the kids to do something fun. So, maybe we will just do that instead. Either way, it will be a fun night I'm sure.

I think we are all adjusting nicely to our new town. The boys seem to be getting used to it here and even Brent and I have developed a sort of routine. I cannot stress enough how this move was what our family needed.

Please continue the prayers for Dane. We are truly seeing the hand of God work and I find it amazing how often God chooses to show me His Power and Might through my children. I think back on scary times with my kids and each time my faith has been strengthened and renewed. God knows what He must do to teach me, that is for sure. My angels health definitely gets this momma on her knees crying out to God. He does what He has to :-)

Well, friends.... I think I'll get off here and do my Bible study homework.... Have a wonderful Thursday. And, if you feel up to sharing what animal you would be and why, please do share! :-) I'm pretty curious.

I'm Strong

Good Morning!

I am blogging early this morning! My sister spent the night and I have Bible study this morning and an afternoon of fun with her. I knew I would not get it done if I did not do it this morning. Yesterday you learned 5 weaknesses, today, you will learn 5 strengths.

1)  Long distance running. I am no good at short distance, but I can go months without running and then hit the road again and be able to run a decent long distance. The furthest I have ever run is 13.1 miles and I ran that without stopping one time (although I wanted to). I enjoy running, but I enjoy lifting weights way more. My body stays in way better shape when I am pumping some iron.
2) Forgiving and forgetting. I blame this on my forgetfulness more than anything else. I will be talking about someone and how much I like them or even just mentioning their name and, someone will be like, "But don't you remember when they did ___________"? Nope. Sure don't. Even if I remember they did me wrong, I never remember any of the details which makes getting over that so much easier.
3) Buying gifts. It is my love language so I love to pick out just the right gift. I love shopping for birthdays, baby showers, Christmas, etc. If you mention something to me you like, know that I always make a mental note of it in case there comes a time to buy a gift for you. With my boys and husband it is the worst. They tell me they like something or want something, I CANNOT get it out of my head. I have to get it for them.
4) Speaking in front of group. I don't necessarily enjoy it, but I also don't mind it. And for the most part, I do enjoy it. I have a loud mouth and I am very outgoing. Put those 2 things together and you've got a great loudmouth, outgoing person who doesn't mind standing in front of a group speaking.
5) Being a friend. I like to think this is a strength and since I work really hard at this, I am going to go ahead and call it a strength. I know I am not near as good of a friend as some people are. Some people just have it down way better. BUT.... I try my hardest to be a good friend. I will say here that many, many times being a wife and mom get in the way. My family always comes first so there are occasions I am not a good friend for that reason. I would venture to say other mom's and wives (but especially mom's because that is a 24/7 job) completely understand that statement and probably agree. For the most part, I will answer (or call you back) when you call, text back, meet up with you, attend your parties, help you plan parties, bend over backwards to help you do something (even if it is soooo far from convenient to me), help you achieve a goal, check on you if I know you are going through a difficult time, cook you a meal if I think it will help, sit and just listen to you without you ever needing to ask me, help you move, make sure you are settled when you move, pray for you and with you, spend time with you, be on your side, love you, grieve with you, be excited with you, be mad with you, and more. I am finding out more and more how not many adults DO NOT know how to be a good friend. Through the years I have met so many women who just take, take, take from a friendship (and I know with certain ladies I have been guilty of this same exact thing) and never, ever give anything in return. That friendship can be so exhausting. I have always tried to continue on being a friend. It is definitely not easy, but I love having friends and I know how special friends are to me. All of that to say, I hope you, my friends, feel how deeply I care for you and know that I always try my absolute hardest to be a good, true, and honest friend.

There you go!

I realize now I sort of went on and on and on with the last one. Sorry about that!

Last night I hosted a Norwex party. A special thanks to those who came! We had a great time and I am seriously in love with these products!!!!!! It was a fun and late night. Today, I am really looking forward to Bible study. It is becoming the highlight of my week I do believe.

Also, a very, very BIG thank you to those of you who have shown concern and love for my prayer request with Dane. So many people had him on their prayer lists and added them to their churches prayer chain. I deeply appreciate it. I am getting tears in my eyes just thinking about all those that have responded on FB, text, called, etc. to check in on the little guy with an issue you know nothing about. I have taken the issue to God and I am treating this at home and with chiropractic. I do believe I will share with you what is going on once it is all better. I know how some of you are and I know I will never hear the end of what I need to do and since I am trusting my instincts here, I think it is best to not say until it is all over. I trust God completely that we are almost to that point. But, please, continue to pray for him and for me and Brent that we will make the right decisions concerning him and health. We love him with all our hearts and only make decisions that we feel are best and have his complete safety and health at top priority.

I hope you all have a blessed day.

Weakness

 Good afternoon, readers!

Today I am listing 5 weaknesses I have. This should be easy. I have a million weaknesses.

1) Chocolate. I cannot turn it away. It doesn't matter how good I want to be, how badly I have eaten that day, or if I have a certain goal (health speaking), if you offer me chocolate, I will take it and I will eat every bite. I will probably go for seconds.... and possibly... thirds.
2) My children saying, "Pleeeeeaaaaase Mooooommmy??" in the sweetest little voice you can say. Webb has just learned it and it sounds so innocent "Peeeeaasss Mooooommy.". I don't care what it is they are asking for, a part of me cannot resist the urge to say, "YES!".
3) Pressing the snooze button. If I need to be up at 7am. I will set the following alarms and press snooze each time it goes off: 6:17am, 6:28am, 6:39am, 6:50am, 6:54am, 7:02am. I love to press the snooze and I have to allow myself to do it... more than one time.
4) Getting a pedicure. It is a guilty pleasure. I love to be pampered. If my hubby offers (or anyone does for that matter), I cannot turn it down. I love to sit and be forced to be still for about an hour. I like to have my feet and calves massaged. I like to leave with my cuticles trimmed, toe nails cut, and perfectly painted and designed toes.
5) Coffee! I LOVE coffee. Once again, I cannot resist the offer if you have some. I could drink 4-7 cups a day. I love Starbucks, flavored creamer, cold coffee, hot coffee, blended coffee, coffee flavored ice-cream, and anything else with coffee in it. I even like to say the word, "coffee". Try it. It is a fun word. I especially love to drink coffee along with my chocolate :-)

Ok, now you know. What are some of your weaknesses? I'd love to know!

Pet Peeves and A Normal Day

I'm a day late again. I apologize. I was going to blog yesterday afternoon, but then I got busy with a lot of nothing :-)

I am listing 10 pet peeves I have (yesterday's question) and a typical day in my life now.

1) Dishonesty. I cannot stand to be lied to. I cannot stand to be lied to when I know the truth and even tell the person I do. When they keep up with their lie, it irritates me to the core. What is it about people, good godly people (or so the appear that way) that makes it ok in their head to lie? I don't know and I don't know that I ever will.
2) Disorganization. Oh. My. Goodness. It drives me CRAZY!!!!!! I like for everything to be in it's proper place (because in my mind, everything has it's proper place). I like clean. I like organized. I like perfection.
3) Excuses. Any kind of excuse really. An excuse to not change something about yourself you don't like. An excuse to not understand something you think you know about, yet really don't and refuse to educate yourself to where you do. An excuse to not go somewhere because you really don't want to. An excuse for your lying. An excuse for anything in the world. You want something, go get it. You don't, stop acting like you do.
4) Copy cats. I don't like to be copied (my husband says to take it as a compliment) and I don't like to see people change to appear a way they really aren't. Be who you are and be proud of who you are. Don't talk bad about people who aren't like you. We are unique individuals. That is a good thing.
5) People who drive under the speed limit. If the speed limit is 25, well for goodness sakes, drive 25mph. But if the speed limit is 55, then for the love of everyone on the road, DRIVE 55, not 25!
6) People who let their children ride without carseats, or nurse their baby while riding in the car. PEOPLE!!!! I realize you may be a good driver or your loving spouse who drives while your nurse, but do you understand that NOT everyone is a good driver?!?!?! There are some CRAZY people out there. New drivers, careless drivers, drunk drivers, distracted drivers, and so much more. Do you understand that when you allow your child to ride unrestrained, first of all, you are breaking a law, and second of all, if something happens to your precious child, YOU are the reason why. You will have to live with that the rest of your life and God-forbid something horrible happen, YOU would be at fault and go to jail... deserving to of course. People that do that disgust me because I cannot imagine putting my child in such a huge danger. Act like adults people, it is our job to teach our children right from wrong. Wearing a seatbelt is right (A LAW) and not is wrong (You could die, get a ticket, etc.). BUCKLE your children up!!!!!!
7) People who don't believe in God or don't believe what the Bible says. Those who pray to the universe or really believe that the universe (or any other thing except for God Himself) supplies their needs or even their wants drive me insane!!!!! Look around you, the universe did NOT create it all, there is no way anything, except an Almighty, All Powerful, Omniscient, God created EVERYTHING and EVERYONE. As for beliefs, even though you think gay marriage, abortion, drunkenness, drugs, and everything else under the sun is "ok", does not make a world of difference. It does not matter what you think or what you believe. The only thing that matters is what God says. What He says is right, is right. What He says is wrong, is wrong. It doesn't matter what you wish or what you want Him to approve of, if His Word says it is wrong or it is right, you better go with that. What drives me the most crazy about this is when people don't place God and what He says where it should be. It should be what motivates people. The guidelines people use to live and raise their family. Our nation, our generation needs a revival. I hear stories of people everyday that sadden me to the core. It breaks my heart to think about what people make ok in their heads. I am scared to raise my children in this society and I continually cover them in prayer.
8) Fake people. Those who act one way around a certain group of people and those who act another way in front of a different group of people.
9) Deliberately hurting others. It is a form of an attack. I don't like it. Not one bit. I see it on FB, I see it in person. I see it in children and I see it in adults. It is wrong. It is sad. And it is a pet peeve of mine.
10) ANIMALS (people) who hurt children. Sexual abuse, physical abuse, verbal abuse, mental abuse. I HATE it! It is so wrong and it makes me unbelievably angry. Poor, little, innocent babies being treated badly... thought and emotions come out in me that are BAD. I want to hurt people. I want to see people suffer. I want to make sure they hurt and suffer for a long time.... but, I have to pray. Pray for the Lord to intervene, pray for the Lord to heal, and pray for the Lord to see justice, not me.

A day in our life:

I get up before 8. Some days it is 6am, others it is 7:45am. I do my Bible study, drink my coffee, run sometimes (2-3 miles). Then we shower and get ready. We either hang out at home or run errands (shop, Bible study, MOPS, ride bikes outside, story time at the Library, play dates at the park, church, seeing family and friends, etc). Our days are so laid back and I love it. Around 5pm, I start prepping for dinner. We eat and then take a bath and then hit the sack. Brent and I may stay up and chat or watch tv, of Farm together (an app on our iPhones. LOL!). I am enjoying these slow paced days and I am enjoying my family. I LOVE living in Cartersville and I love the ways I have already grown and changed.

We are headed out now to run some errands!
